How can I mix my Mechanical Engineering degree with my love of sports and fitness into a career?

June 28, 2011 - 11:00 pm 1 Comment

So im working on my BS in Mechanical Engineering, but after a recent internship, I found that I dont really want to sit on a computer all day doing Soldworks lol. I love sports and working out, am a collegiate athlete now, and would love to work in the field some day. What would be a good career choice where I could utilize my engineering skills and my love of fitness.

there are two areas that spring to mind.

How about repairs and engineering in motor sport, either formula one or motor bikes?

Another idea, you could perhaps get a job dealing with the repairs or design of fitness machines?

These jobs won’t keep you fit but they’ll mix both interests. I’m not sure how you’d get into them so perhaps you could Google it or contact a local race track to get inside info?

Can someone explain the pyramid on the Wii sports fitness test?

I think each test means one of the traits on the pyramid, but to be honest it means nothing more than how well you’ve scored on them.

i have a question about fitness and sports?

May 19, 2011 - 5:33 am 4 Comments

ok im 17 year old and im 260 lbs.i really want to run track this year but ithink that my weight is a problem,i dont want to go out there on the field and have a stroke or heart attack.so is it safe for me to run or not?

To go out for a sport (at least in the US, I’m not sure where you live) you have to have a fitness examination, so a doctor will determine if it is safe or not. If you live somewhere where a physical isn’t required, get one.

What well paid jobs can I get in the sports/fitness/nutrition sector?

May 5, 2011 - 10:10 am 1 Comment

I am currently at college doing business and accounting, but after my first year I hate it. The only parts I enjoy are about marketing, PR and advertising.

However I have always loved sport and fitness and I am seriously considering changing to.a completely different course that could train me to be a personal trainer.

So which jobs in this area are well paid, and would I be able to use my knowledge of sports in the future in the area of marketing and advertising?

this website can help you!

Personal trainer or fitness instructor come to mind. You might develop your own program and/or do research. Of course you could become a teacher in either the public or private sector.
