Do you pay tax on sports bet winnings?

August 23, 2011 - 12:32 pm 5 Comments

The premier league start soon, I have placed a bet. If I win (£100 if i’m lucky) will this be taxed?

You don’t pay tax out of your winnings, and you don’t pay tax on the stake either. Many years ago you did, and you could choose which way around you wanted it to be, but this tax was scrapped a long time ago.

The bookie will pay tax on his profit in the same way as any other business, so in a way you could say you do pay some tax. But this would be like saying you pay tax on your food at Tesco, because they pay tax on the profit they make.

How do you bet sports online in the US?

Before the NBA playoffs started, I predicted Mavs over Heat in the Finals. I also predicted 13 of the 15 playoff series correctly. The only ones i got wrong were Spurs/Grizz, and Magic/Hawks. It kills me to think i could have made a fortune on this. Can you tell me how to do this so i can prepare for next season? Thanks in advance.

Well, i am long time sports bettor, i mostly bet online and it is my part time job, but also hobby. I have found some great free picks, odds & predictions http://www.sportsbettingdeal.com/news/ which was very helpful last few days to decide who to bet on.

If you are fan of NBA then i would suggest you read these NBA Betting Strategy before you bet, which will improve your winning ratio also to understand how it works properly in sports betting lines and odds as well as over and under bets and parlay http://www.sportsbettingdeal.com/nba-betting.html

Is there a legal way to bet on sports in the US outside of Nevada?

July 4, 2011 - 1:09 pm 1 Comment

Does the ban on Internet gambling in the US include betting on sports? And do any casinos take bets on sports outside of Nevada? I’m not counting gambling sports like horse racing and dog racing.

It’s a pretty tricky question, but for the most part, Nevada is the only state that offers legalized sports betting (although Delaware does offer parlay cards at this time as well). However, as you probably know, the internet offers many online sportsbooks where you can bet. While the actual wagering on the games is "legal", the transfer of funds to an offshore sportsbook is what is considered "illegal."

I put those in quotes because it really is such a gray area at this time. However, there are many quality sportsbooks that offer the opportunity to wager on sports. Millions of individuals have been participating in it within the US for years, but again the actual transfer of funds to an offshore book does violate US policy at this time…but again it’s up to you. I won’t say one way or the other.

However, if you’re looking for help in choosing a reputable/quality sportsbook, I would suggest you check out http://www.sports-betting-insights.com/choosing-a-sportsbook.html . This will give you some good information in what to look for if you decide to go that route. Best of luck.

With sports bets, do you get paid based on the odds @ time of your bet or the odds right before the event?

July 1, 2011 - 6:20 pm 3 Comments

When the betting odds of a sporting event change, does your payout ultimately reflect the odds that you originally bet at or whatever the closing odds were right before the event? That is, does your bet stay fixed at the odds you’re initially given?

Thanks,
Brian

You get paid based on what the odds were when you placed your bet (regardless if they change for the better or worse).

what is the age to bet on sports in ontario canada?

June 10, 2011 - 10:51 am 2 Comments

I know that at 18 you can buy lottery tickets… but I’d rather bet on sports because there is some skill in that… Is there anyway for an 18 year old to bet on sports in Ontario? Buying tickets in a convenience store? or goin to a casion? is it allowed?

You can bet on Proline at any Mac’s mart or other convenience store, BUT their odds are horrible when compared with offshore sportsbooks. The casinos in Ontario only offer Proline too, so you aren’t missing out on anything by not going there. I strongly urge you to use a reputable offshore sportsbook if you plan on betting on sports. I also suggest that you only bet on one game at a time, and make a budget for your betting…and stick to it. You will find independent reviews of only the most reputable sportsbooks at http://www.Sportsbook-Ratings.net Best of luck!

How to bet on sports properly?

June 8, 2011 - 5:16 am 1 Comment

I’ve never had much luck better, but I know that other people can make good money from betting on sports. I just dont know how I think.

Can anyone recommend a book, or betting system where I can learn to bet on sports so that I can be profitable?

yeah there are loads of them on the internet. You just have to know where to look.

Been making pretty good money using one program that I found. You can use it for pretty much any sport, and it has clear rules/easy to follow. You can check it out here if you want,

You won’t win every time (thats impossible), but it will show you how to bet on sports properly and make some money out of it.
